Zoraya Ahumada, M.D., is a private-practice child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist in Houston, TX. She completed her undergraduate and medical schooling at La Universidad Del Norte located in Colombia. She then completed a four-year psychiatry residency at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. Subsequently, she completed a two-year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at The University of Texas Health in Houston. After fellowship, Dr. Ahumada became an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Psychiatry Department before transitioning into private practice.

Dr. Ahumada is undergoing training at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies (formerly the Houston Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute) in Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. She provides both pharmacotherapy and individual psychotherapy for adults, teenagers and children and is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Dr. Ahumada is board certified for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Her interests include psychodynamic psychotherapy; evidence-based medication management; anxiety, depression, and mood disorders; and grief and trauma related illnesses in adults. In children and teens, her specialties include attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; anxiety, depression and mood disorders; grief and trauma related illnesses; oppositional defiant disorder; and autism spectrum disorders, among other behavioral disorders. She is also trained in reproductive mental health, which is a specialty that focuses on psychiatric conditions that develop in relation to specific points in a woman's reproductive life cycle, such as menstruation, pregnancy, infertility and menopause.

Dr. Ahumada manages her practice personally, responding to phone calls and matters directly and timely.
